Our Story

FROM Park and Club Junior Tennis TO Serving COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD

FROM PASSION FOR TENNIS TO A LIFESTYLE

Racquet Lifestyle began when three different pathways converged in the early days of their professional careers. While seeking the skills needed to become well rounded and diversified providers of Tennis, the three founders, Mitch, Brent and Ryan learned that, though Tennis was their medium, People became their passion. All three came to believe in the truth that some of the most meaningful and positive life experiences can happen while on court. The game became more than just a competition but rather a vessel to the laughs, connection and healthy pathways of life. Through this belief and the decades of friendship with one another, the foundation of Racquet Lifestyle was born.

OUR THREE MISSIONS

Though Tennis Is what brought us together, ALL Racquet Sports embody the plight of Racquet Lifestyle. The 3 Main missions of Racquet Lifestyle Include:

  1. Introduction – Bringing racquet sports to people experiencing them for the first time or rediscovering them.
  2. Support & Development – Helping professionals and providers of racquet sports grow in their craft.
  3. Creation & Innovation – Designing new racquet sport experiences, programs, and facilities.

It is through these three clear missions that we feel our Professional experience can best serve our immediate, surrounding and global communities, associations and governing bodies of Racquet Sports.

MEETING YOU WHERE YOU ARE

The Racquet Lifestyle team is driven to ‘Meet YOU Where YOU are at’ in your Racquet Sports Journey. We pride ourselves in creating Professional environments highlighted with welcoming, fun and inclusive themes that make sure everyone is SEEN and given THEIR moment. From red ball programs for beginners to freeform social mixers and skill-based clinics, Racquet Lifestyle has become a space for people to move their bodies, meet new people, and experience the joy of low-pressure play.

MORE THAN A GAME

Today, Racquet Lifestyle is a growing community of players, coaches, friends, and first-timers. We're fueled by the belief that movement is medicine, that connection matters, and that sport can be soft, expressive, and fun. This isn’t just about Tennis, Padel, Pickle Ball. It’s about building a culture of belonging through racquet sports, one rally at a time.

Bio

Ryan grew up in Austin, TX where he started playing tennis in early elementary school, first during summer breaks at camp. By 5th grade he was playing year-round. He loved the challenge and camaraderie of playing the game and being around the club. My best friends were ones he met thru tennis. He continued to play junior team tennis, USTA tournaments, and for the middle and high school teams.

During high school, Ryan began his coaching journey. First, with the youngest kids and their summer camp. Their camp would be before his practice. So, he would show up early to help their camp, eat lunch, and then stick around for his afternoon practice. He always found teaching enjoyable and says, “watching them improve and to see them recognize that they are ‘doing it’ is a special feeling.” In his later years of high school, he would stick around after his practice to feed balls for the adult clinics a couple nights during the week. Again, Ryan enjoyed the coaching experience (certainly more than stringing racquets for the club) so he was happy to do it.

When it came time to figure out college, Ryan decided against pursing playing college tennis. He loved tennis, but not like that. Instead, he attended Texas State University and earned a degree in Exercise & Sport Science. While attending, he began coaching at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch working adult tennis programs on weekends and junior tennis programs during school breaks. After completing his undergrad degree, he enrolled for a Master of Business Administration degree at Texas State. Again, teaching at Newk’s throughout this schooling. Newk’s became his favorite place on Earth. Once again, tennis had brought me the best friends, laughs, lessons, and memories he could ever ask for.

After graduating, Ryan has continued to teach tennis. He’s done it at home and on fun travels around the country and world, meeting wonderful people and seeing beautiful places all along the way. “Teaching still brings me all the joy it ever has. Now, with a deeper intrigue into general learning processes and epistemology - how things like missing on purpose and asking questions like ‘how do I know what I know?’ can help students improve their strokes and gameplay.”

Ryan recently become a father to baby boy who he is eager to share his passions of tennis, golf, music, and humor. “I’m happy to share those passions with you, too.”
